Los Gatos’ biannual wine walk is back this fall, but with a twist.

The town will feature breweries for the first time at the event, now called the Los Gatos Beer & Wine Walk, set for Oct. 15, 1-4 p.m.

Local wineries and breweries will be set up inside the restaurants and shops along North Santa Cruz Avenue, offering pours and small bites.

While the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce typically hosts a wine walk every spring and fall, executive director Catherine Somers said the Chamber wanted to revamp the event this season to include beer to make it more interesting and stand out among the South Bay’s fall wine walks

“For a long time we’ve been thinking of changing it up,” Somers said. “Also, we really wanted to highlight more of the beer trend because now in town here even, we have some more places that are serving craft beers.”

There will be 20-25 local wineries and 10-15 local breweries in attendance, including Hapas Brewing Company, Testarossa Winery and Boochcraft Hard Kombucha. Several musicians will perform at stages around downtown as well.

The event is geared toward boosting local businesses that are recovering from the pandemic, supply chain issues and staffing shortages.

“This (event) really focuses on helping our merchants because the merchants actually host the winery or the brewery inside their store, so attendees actually have to go in, look around,” Somers said. “This event definitely really does highlight the great shopping we have in town.”

In the future, Somers said she’d love to see the event expand to include nonalcoholic beverages as well so there’s something for everyone.

Tickets are $50 at Eventbrite.com and include a souvenir wine glass. Check-in for the event will start at 12:30 p.m. at the breezeway between Kismet Boutique & Automobuild at 100 N. Santa Cruz Ave., and at Old Town Center at 50 University Ave.
