SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry’s 39 points were not enough to negate undisciplined, sloppy play and a stone cold night from 3-point range as the Golden State Warriors fell to the Indiana Pacers 121-117 Thursday night in overtime.
The undermanned Pacers, on the second night of a back-to-back, shot 15-for-35 from three while the Warriors shot a frigid 9-for-42 from deep.
Indiana trailed by seven points after the first quarter and came back within three close to the end of the second until Curry hit a long three to push the Warriors’ lead to six. Golden State went on a mini run at the end of the second to push the lead to eight. Indiana eventually took a 68-66 lead early in the third quarter when Justin Holiday hit a corner three. The Pacers traded leads with the Warriors throughout the third quarter to take a tied game in the final stanza.
Midway through the fourth, Gary Payton II posterized Goga Bitadze and stared him down for a technical. Bitadze exchanged words with Payton, received a technical foul of his own and was ejected.
For the Warriors, Kevon Looney recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Klay Thompson chipped in with 12 points. For Indiana, Chris Duarte lead the way with 27 points while Justin Holiday scored 16. This is the sixth loss in the last nine games for the Warriors.
