GILROY — An investigation was underway Saturday night into a traffic fatality involving a man who was walking on a freeway near the truck scales in Gilroy.
At 8:45 p.m. Saturday the California Highway Patrol received reports of an adult male who was walking on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in the No. 2 lane of the freeway.
The man was walking towards vehicles in the northbound lanes, according to the CHP’s fatal accident index.
The CHP reported that the man was carrying a “white bag.”
At 8:58 p.m., an accident involving a pedestrian and vehicle collision was reported on the freeway at that location.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene at about 9:13 p.m.
The truck scales are located on Highway 101 between East San Martin Avenue and Masten Avenue.
