BERKELEY – Authorities on Wednesday arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting last spring in southwest Berkeley.

The shooting happened around 4:25 p.m. on March 30 at the intersection of Eighth Street and Channing Way, according to the Berkeley Police Department. Officers found physical evidence of a shooting but no victims.

The evidence was turned over to detectives, who identified a suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force helped arrest the suspect at his residence in Fairfield, police said, adding that a search of the home turned up other evidence linking him to the shooting.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday charged the suspect with assault with a firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling, according to police.
