At the Barrett-Jackson 2025 Scottsdale Auction you’ll see what’s possible when the brilliant engineers at a car company put in long hours and their all of their passion and experience into a vehicle. You’ll also get an eyeful of the creations made by imaginative customizers. The two Chevrolet vehicles below that are on the docket at WestWorld of Scottsdale January 18-26, 2025 represent both ends of that spectrum.
LS7-POWERED 1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE SPLIT-WINDOW COUPE
Every 1963 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is a sight to savor. Its bulging fenders and pronounced haunches make it immediately clear that it’s ready to get down the road in a hurry. Then there’s that iconic split rear window, which makes first-year C2 coupes like this one here not only distinctive, but a privilege to see because Chevy never offered that layout again (until the 2025 Corvette ZR1).
But there’s more to see than just this Sebring Silver Vette’s wonderful curves. Look under the hood. That’s no carbureted 327. It’s a fuel-injected LS7 7.0-liter V8, which is connected to a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission. Other conveniences include air conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes. This classic Corvette with a modern heart is a great combination. All that’s missing is you driving it home.
The original Chevrolet Nomad was only around for three model years (1955-1957), but that was long enough for the distinctive two-door wagon to establish its legacy. When most people hear the name, they think of the Tri-Five version, not the later Nomads that Chevy offered in subsequent decades.
Devoted owners protect and continue the original Nomad’s legacy one car at a time. The one you see here received a five-year restoration that ended in 2015. As part of the update, the exterior was refinished in an attractive combination of Dusk Plum and India Ivory. Those colors not only make each other stand out more, but they draw greater attention to the distinctive forward-leaning B-pillars and tailgate accent strips, too. The interior was also redone in a two-tone color scheme: Ivory vinyl and black fabric.
Under the hood is a 195-horsepower 265ci V8 that’s hooked up to a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. That’s not the only interesting thing in the engine bay, though. Check out the factory air conditioning.
If it looks as if this car hasn’t aged a day since being overhauled nearly 10 years ago, there’s a reason for that. Make that 62 – that’s the number of miles this Nomad has traveled on its whitewall tires since being restored. It’s ready to move on to its next owner and take them on new adventures. If you place the right bid, that could be you.
