Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this restored 1958 Chevrolet Corvette that’s been in the same family since 1982. It is powered by a custom-built 355cid V8 backed by the rebuilt, original T-10 four-speed manual transmission. Features include dual four-barrel carburetors, headers, electronic ignition, and more. Finished in white with silver coves, manual white vinyl convertible top, and red vinyl interior, this garage-kept Corvette comes with spare parts and clear title in the seller’s name.

This Corvette was purchased by the current owner’s father in 1982. The body is currently finished in hand-rubbed, 21-coat Ditzler white acrylic paint with silver coves. Features include driver-side rearview mirror, manual white convertible top, rear-mounted antenna, and wheel covers. The car has never been rained over the past 42 years and has been driven about 8-10 hours per year.. A walk-around video can be seen below.

A set of black 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers is wrapped in BFGoodrich tires.

The cabin is furnished with red vinyl bucket seats, vinyl door panels, and trim from Corvette America. Features include manual steering, console-mounted manual transmission shifter, and vintage-look AM/FM radio with aftermarket speaker.

The instrument panel consists of a 150-mph speedometer, Stewart Warner Stage III tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. A clock is located in the center console. The odometer reads 2,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown as the seller states the speedometer and odometer are currently not functioning.

Power is provided by a 355cid small-block that was custom-built by a performance shop in 1991. It is backed by the reportedly original, blueprinted, and rebuilt T-10 four-speed manual transmission. The engine consists of chrome valve covers, dual-quad Edelbrocks, ported and polished Dart cast-iron 2.02 heads, COMP Cams 1.6 roller rockers, Manley Performance valves, Crane 292 camshaft, double-roller timing chain and gear, forged crank, rods, and pistons, MSD electronic ignition system with Blaster 2 coil, PerTronix Flame-Thrower rotor replacement, Holley fuel pump, and Hooker Headers. According to the seller, the V8 generates 435 horsepower and has accrued approximately 236 hours since the build.

This Corvette is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear-drive axle with Positraction and 4.11 gears.
