El Camino Real reopened Friday evening after officials determined a suspicious package posed no threat, the Santa Clara Police Department announced in a news release.
The road had been closed going both directions in Santa Clara as police investigated the package, officials announced on social media. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad determined that there was no danger to public safety, according to the news release.
At 2:50 p.m. Friday, a suspicious package was reported by a community member, according to the post. SCPD requested assistance from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the package “out of an abundance of caution.”
El Camino Real was closed between Calabazas Boulevard and Kiely Boulevard due to the police activity.
