CAMPBELL – Authorities on Tuesday announced an arrest in an unprovoked stabbing last month at a fast food restaurant in Campbell.
The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. on March 31 at the Jack in the Box at 1737 South Bascom Ave., the Campbell Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.
The victim was waiting for his food order when he was “suddenly stabbed from behind,” according to police. He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries and stabilized.
On April 2, investigators received word a neighboring law enforcement agency had arrested the suspect a day earlier in connection with an unrelated crime, police said.
Officers searched the suspect’s home and recovered the knife that was used in the stabbing, as well as clothes that matched those worn by the suspect, according to police.
Police said the suspect, a 55-year-old San Jose man, has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
