The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Saturday evening until 8 p.m. for parts of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties as isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain, lightning, and hail moved through the area.

The flood advisory followed a severe thunderstorm warning the agency issued at 4:30 pm for parts of Santa Clara County, with the possibility of penny-sized hail and wind up to 60 miles per hour through 5 p.m.

Hail was reported by residents living in the Santa Cruz mountains, and in the East San Jose hills earlier in the afternoon.
