Two South Bay restaurants are temporarily closed for renovations — one after 52 years in the business, one after 12 years.
In downtown Los Gatos, the venerable Pedro’s Restaurant & Cantina will be shuttered until late summer. According to the website, “Pedro’s started out on a shoestring budget on Nov. 29, 1972 … with a 12-table restaurant which developed an immediate following.” That patronage allowed the restaurant to expand not once, but twice.
And, the owners said, two years of planning preceded the opening of the second Pedro’s, located in Santa Clara. That restaurant opened its doors on May 13, 1980.
Diners will need to head there for their Pedro’s fix until the Los Gatos interior and menu are updated.
“The atmosphere, menu, and concept overall are being modernized, reenergized and rejuvenated, while still paying homage to the incredible story, people and original restaurant that got us here.” a Pedro’s spokeswoman said.
Over in Campbell at the Pruneyard, the Pacific Catch seafood restaurant has closed for a month-long renovation to improve traffic flow in parts of the restaurant and enhance seating options.
Look for a reopening in April. Meantime, the nearest Pacific Catch restaurants are in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Cupertino.
