With less than three hours left to vote in the special election in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, residents are continuing to cast their ballots to choose whether Democrat Tom Suozzi or Mazi Pilip, who is running as a Republican, will replace ousted congressman George Santos.

In Nassau County: As of 6 p.m. ET, more than 56,000 residents of the district have voted, according to Nassau County Board of Elections Democratic Commissioner James Scheuerman.

Of those who cast ballots, 20,033 are registered Democrats, 21,675 are registered Republicans, 12,309 are voters with no party affiliation and 2,585 are from other parties.

In Queens: There has been a total of 20,396 votes so far in this part of the 3rd District. This includes early votes, absentee votes, and votes cast today, according to information posted on social media by the New York City Board of Elections, which does not break down the turnout according to party affiliation.

There are 421,855 registered voters in Nassau County and approximately 104,000 registered voters in Queens.  

Both Nassau County and the New York City Board of Elections are giving these numbers based on those who check in at polling sites.
