Smerconish: Is Abbott’s border war on DOJ a political ploy?
Governor Greg Abbott is using the National Guard to block federal agents from accessing the border. “He’s creating a confrontation,” says Houston Chronicle columnist Craig Tomlinson, “…to draw attention to himself and the GOP…if this crisis is allowed to perpetuate, it will hurt President Biden’s re-election opportunities, and I think that’s what the GOP wants.”
