SAN MATEO – Authorities on Monday arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a double stabbing outside a San Mateo bar late last month.

The victims were stabbed during a drunken brawl at the Yuppie Cantina, located at 709 South B St., on Oct. 28, the San Mateo Police Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Several other participants in the fight also suffered injuries that required medical attention. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Police used surveillance footage to identify the suspect. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, police stopped the suspect at Mount Diablo Avenue and South Bayshore Boulevard. Police said a search of his vehicle turned up a pair of knives.

The suspect, identified as a San Mateo resident, was arrested and booked into San Mateo County jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He was held on $50,000 bail.
