A head-on traffic crash left an 86-year-old man dead on Thanksgiving evening in Concord, authorities said.

The wreck happened about 6:50 p.m. Thursday on Oak Grove Road near Treat Boulevard, according to Lt. Robert Garcia of the Concord Police Department.

A vehicle was driving north on Oak Grove Road when it hit one vehicle and then slammed into another vehicle, which was traveling in the southbound lanes and carrying the 86-year-old man, Garcia said. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. It is not clear whether anyone else was injured.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Garcia said.
