DISCOVERY BAY – A 32-year-old Antioch man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead last week on Highway 4 in Discovery Bay, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Javier Dominguez Ramirez was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on a felony hit-and-run charge, the CHP said in a news release. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

The hit-and-run happened around 11:40 p.m. on Nov. 16 in westbound lanes of Highway 4 near Newport Drive. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian was identified this week as Beverly Sweeney, 87, of Discovery Bay.

Two other people died in crashes on Highway 4 in Contra Costa County between Nov. 13 and Nov. 16.

Nancy Avila Cervantes, 28, of Antioch, was killed on Nov. 13 when her Honda Accord went off the shoulder and hit a concrete wall and median at the Railroad Avenue exit in Pittsburg. And Kevin Parilla, 31, of Concord, was killed on Nov. 16 when he lost control of his Dodge Charger and overturned near McEwen Road in Crockett.
