Girls Division I
No. 1 Miramonte 10, No. 2 Campolindo 5
Before they met on Saturday for the NorCal Division I championship at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, rivals Miramonte and Campolindo had played six previous times this season.
Miramonte won each of them.
The regional championship match proved to be no different as the Mats took command in the first quarter, building a 5-1 advantage, and never looked back as they captured their third consecutive Division I title and fourth in the five tournaments that have been played.
Rosalie Hassett had four goals, three steals and an assist, Ally Larsen added three goals and Alison Sagara handed out six assists to lead the way.
Audrina Kang, Bea Hearey and Marta Maninetti also scored a goal for Miramonte, which got eight saves from goalie Eliana Bottene.
The Mats finished the season 27-2, their only losses to Acalanes. Campo fell to 21-8.
Boys Division I
No. 1 Sacred Heart Prep 13, No. 3 Miramonte 10
SHP captured its third consecutive NorCal Division I title as Nelson Harris had four goals and three steals and Clay Carrington and Andrew Spencer each finished with three goals and three assists to propel the Gators over Miramonte in a match at UOP.
Luke Kirincich added two goals and an assist and Murdoch Baker-Matsuoka had 11 saves as SHP finished the season 24-7.
Henry Engs, Grant Kurtz, Brock Bliss and Griff Tunney each scored twice for Miramonte, which fell to 17-12.
The first quarter ended with the teams tied 2-2. SHP led 6-5 at halftime and 9-8 after three quarters.
In Division II, top-seeded Campolindo defeated second-seeded Buchanan 14-12 to win the title.
Girls Division II
No. 1 Leland 16, No. 2 Clovis North 10
Leland finished its season in championship form, building a 9-4 cushion at halftime and a 13-6 advantage through three quarters on its way to defeating Clovis North for the NorCal Division II title at UOP.
Evie Burns had another big day for the San Jose school, scoring five goals one day after she had three in a 6-5 semifinal victory over Archie Williams.
Chrissy Flynn and Sofia DeRollo each scored four goals and Briana Livingston, Tara Sarhangnejad and goalie Leo Jolissaint each had one.
Jolissaint, who scored at the end of the first half, finished with 10 saves.
“Girls played their best game in this championship,” coach Eric Rise wrote in an email.
