A chorus of boos erupted after former President Donald Trump mentioned GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina during a speech in the senator’s own state on Monday. Trump described the lawmaker as a friend.

Earlier this year at another Trump rally in South Carolina, audience members booed Graham when he appeared at the podium ahead of Trump’s speech. Then later during the same event, Trump mentioned Graham and was met by boos from the audience.

The senator has served since early 2003, and his current term ends in early 2027.

“A big day for President @realDonaldTrump in South Carolina. @AGAlanWilson and Secretary of State Mark Hammond coming on board is great news, followed by consequential and influential state legislators. The Trump team is getting bigger and better every day in SC!” Graham tweeted.

Even Graham’s tweet was met with negative sentiment.

“You got booed relentlessly!! We don’t understand why Trump still supports you, because the majority of us can’t stand you.. you’re not American first, you’re Ukraine first,” one person wrote in response to Graham’s post.

“Trump would be smart if he dumped you. RINO,” someone else wrote.

Graham has claimed that it is “imperative” for the U.S. to continue aiding Ukraine’s military.

“Those who call for the end of U.S. assistance to Ukraine are simply setting the stage for even bigger wars in the future. That will lead to more future expenses and even more loss of life in Europe and possibly one day, Taiwan,” Graham has claimed.
