Oktoberfest in Los Gatos

Oktoberfest is coming to the Los Gatos Civic Center Lawn next month. On Sunday, Oct. 1, KCAT Public Media will host the event with the help of sponsors including The Alarm Company, Pacific Ridge Builders and Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian. The event, which will run from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, but pets are not permitted. It will feature music and outdoor games, as well as German food and a beer and wine garden.

The night before, KCAT and Successful Aging Solutions & Community Consulting (SASCC) will hold a Los Gatos Celebrity Bingo event in the Oktoberfest main tent from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Winners will receive cash prizes.

San Francisco Opera Series

The next installment in the San Francisco Opera’s lecture series will encapsulate the musical and technological traditions of the Bay Area. The opera’s content curator will give a talk on “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,” a biographical show about the tech mogul.

The lecture will take place at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 20. Tickets are free for members of the opera guild and community center and $10 for non-members.

Today is the final opportunity for consultants and engineering firms to submit proposals to perform the inventory of the town’s storm drain infrastructure. The full request for proposals is available online at www.losgatosplanroom.com. Proposals are due by 5 p.m.
