A burglary in Cupertino that led authorities on a car chase to Fremont ended in arrest on Friday, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary in progress at the 22000 block of Balboa Road in Cupertino at 12:33 p.m. Two men, ages 27 and 30, fled from the scene in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma.

The driver led deputies on a chase into the city of Fremont and crashed into another vehicle on I-880 northbound near Mowry Avenue; the driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries but went to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle in pursuit fled the scene after the crash. Both men were then apprehended by deputies and Fremont Police Department officers.

Law enforcement found stolen property worth thousands of dollars in purses, jewelry and watches belonging to the resident of the Balboa Road home in the driver’s vehicle.

The two men were booked in jail on residential burglary, resisting and evading a peace officer, conspiracy to commit a crime, hit and run causing injury and possession of stolen property.
