VALLEJO — A teenage passenger died and another was injured in a single-car collision Friday morning, authorities said.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the Vallejo Police Department responded to a collision near Columbus and Redwood parkways.
The driver of a 2005 Toyota Tundra lost control of the vehicle while traveling on Columbus Parkway and struck the center median, according to police. The Toyota rolled over and stopped in the opposite lane of traffic.
Police said the passenger was declared dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries police said were not life-threatening.
Police did not identify either teenager because both are under age 18 or say whether they are male or female.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation, and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time, according to Vallejo PD’s Friday press release.
This is the 6th fatal traffic collision in the city of Vallejo in 2023.
Anyone with further evidence or information is asked to contact Corporal Kenneth Trimble of the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division at (707) 648-4011 or by email at Kenneth.trimble@cityofvallejo.net. Please refer to case #23-8689.
