The Pick of the Day is a low-mileage 1967 Buick Skylark listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Cave Junction, Oregon. (Click the link to view the listing)
“Purchased car May 2020 with 14,182 original miles,” the listing states. “All the paperwork to prove it.”
Today, this two-door hardtop is listed with just 17,499 miles on the odometer. The car is dressed in forest green throughout, complete with a matching vinyl roof and rear fender skirts to complete the look. The seller states that the paint is original, and the body is rust-free. Surrounding the perimeter are plenty of eye-catching dress-up goodies like wheel arch moldings, fender accents, bright window trim, and a stainless-steel exhaust system with dual exits out back.
The Skylark nameplate first appeared as a designation of the high-end Roadmaster convertible in 1953. It was later offered a trim level on the Special in 1961, and finally, in 1962 the Skylark became a standalone model of its own. Beginning in 1964, the car shared the General Motors A-body platform with its production-line siblings the Oldsmobile Cutlass and the Chevrolet Chevelle.
Model year 1967 marked the last for this generation of the Skylark, and the changes to the design at that time were largely safety-related in nature. Among the add-ons were an energy-absorbing steering wheel, four-way hazard flashers, shoulder belts for front outboard occupants, and padded interior materials.
Power for this Skylark comes from a 300cid V8 that received upgrades including newer fuel pump and a Pertronix ignition system. The interior is dressed in black vinyl bench seats and optioned with embroidered green floor mats, an aftermarket center console with cup holders, and air conditioning.
Included in the listing is a photo of the underbody which appears as clean as we would expect given the low mileage reading on the odometer. This car looks like it would be right at home in any concours event.
An unrestored 18,000-mile Skylark presents a unique collector opportunity for any Buick enthusiast. The seller states, “$33,000 invested and will take good offer. All updated work done by owner, a retired mechanic.”
