PACIFICA – A 38-year-old Fremont man has been arrested on suspicion of repeatedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl, police said.

Detectives with the Pacifica Police Department opened an investigation in October and determined that the suspect had sexually assaulted the victim multiple times over a period of several years in Pacifica and Alameda County, police said in a news release.

The suspect, identified as Wilfredo Jaun Colins, was a “known family friend in a position of trust,” police said. Colins is also known as Juan Walfredo Colin Mixtun.

Detectives contacted several potential witnesses and identified other potential victims during the months-long investigation, police said.

On Thursday, detectives, with the help of the Fremont Police Department and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Colins on a $1.475 million felony warrant.

Colins was booked into San Mateo County jail on eight counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and one count each of continuous sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 14, forcible rape as sexual intercourse against the will of another by force, assault on a minor with intent to commit a specific sex offense, and lewd or lascivious acts against a child under the age of 14 with specific intent.
