PLEASANT HILL — A police officer shot at a robbery suspect’s vehicle Saturday afternoon before ultimately arresting the individual, police said.

At 3:26 p.m., the Pleasant Hill Police Department received a report about an armed robbery at a Verizon store on the 600 block of Contra Costa Boulevard. Two suspects entered the store, threatened employees that they had a gun and then stole several cell phones, according to police.

The suspects fled in a vehicle and were later located by police near Harrison Street and Concord Avenue in Concord. After refusing to surrender, the driver of the vehicle drove at one of the officers, prompting the officer to fire their weapon. The officer struck the car but did not hit the driver.

At that time, the second suspect fled on foot while the vehicle was chased by Concord officers and Contra Costa Sherriff deputies until the individual was arrested in Bay Point. The second suspect has yet to be detained by police.
