There is nothing quite like the sight of thousands of rounds going downrange at 11 stations throughout the day. That is a typical day at the recent Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous, and it’s beautiful. However, the sound of thousands of rounds going downrange is another story. But thanks to companies like SilencerCo and its Osprey 45 2.0, the sound of rounds hitting steel was more prominent.
The SilencerCo Osprey 45 2.0
Constructed of aluminum and 17-4 stainless steel, the Osprey 45 2.0 features a unique polygonal design. The eccentric design features a monocore baffle, allowing for greater internal volume and better sound performance.
Utilizing a push-button locking system ensures quick indexing during installation and allows for quick and secure alignment. Because of this, the majority of the suppressor sits below the shooter’s line of sight. As a result, it does not impede the use of standard factory pistol sights.
Likewise, it also makes the suppressor more repeatable, meaning consistent positioning on every firearm. This is a departure from the old lever mechanism of previous Osprey versions.
However, SilencerCo does state that the Osprey 2.0 is not retrofittable with old Osprey parts that used the lever mechanism. This is due to the placement of the ATF-required serial number on the back cap. Anyone sending their original Osprey will receive a repaired suppressor with the same lever mechanism.
The Osprey 2.0 was designed to be shot either wet or dry. However, shooting wet improves sound suppression by inserting a small amount of clean water or clear wire pulling gel into the back of the suppressor.
The Osprey 45 2.0 is compatible with a variety of calibers from 9mm to .45 ACP and .300 BLK. Additionally, the 9.2-ounce suppressor does not add undue weight to the muzzle of your pistol.
