BAY POINT — A man who died in a Thanksgiving Day afternoon shooting that was one of two in this unincorporated Contra Costa County area was a Southern California resident, authorities said Friday.

Contra Costa County Sheriff’s deputies found 27-year-old Jeffrey Delgadillo, of Oxnard, dead in the street after responding to Wharf Drive about 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 24. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office released his identity Friday.

The delay in releasing it came because of difficulties in contacting Delgadillo’s next of kin, authorities said.

Deputies arrested 18-year-old Emmanuel Morales, of Antioch, on suspicion of murder and Arturo Morales, 38, on suspicion of being an accessory in connection with the killing. But the two men have since been released from the Martinez Detention Facility, authorities said Friday.

A spokesman for the District Attorney’s office said the cases involving the Morales — authorities have not said whether they are related —are still being reviewed by prosecutors.

Eight hours before deputies found Delgadillo, they responded to a home on Mountain View Avenue and found Marty Fabianek, 62, of Concord, dead from a gunshot wound. Authorities have charged 63-year-old Donald Robbins with murder.

The sheriff’s office has investigated three homicides in Bay Point this year.
