The McLaren Senna set the lap record at The Autódromo José Carlos Pace (aka Interlagos) in São Paulo, Brazil, for street-legal production cars by covering the 2.677-mile track in in 1:37:856. Driver Ricardo Maurcion set the track record on the first lap with a 1:41:422, 1.6-seconds faster than the previous record, and then dropped the lap record to 1:37:856.
“It was sensational! I had been told that the car was exciting to drive, and it proved real on track,” said Ricardo Mauricion. “It is very powerful, with a very strong torque and acceleration.”
The McLaren Senna is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that produces a factory-rated 789 bhp and 590 lbs-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.7-seconds, 0-124 mph in 6.89-seconds and 0-186 mph in 18.8-seconds. The Senna’s top speed is 208 mph, with active aerodynamics creating 1,763.7 pounds of downforce.
Setting the pace at Interlagos is one of numerous laps records the Senna holds as a street-legal production car:
· Grand Course at NCM Motorsports Park: 2:02:86
· NCM West Circuit at NCM Motorsports Park: 1:23:24
· Grand Course at Virginia International Raceway: 2:34:9
· WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca: 1:27:62 (the first production car with a sub-1:28 lap)
McLaren began production of the Senna in 2019 and built 500 units of the track-focused hypercar. It’s named in honor of Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna who won his three world championships with the McLaren Formula One Team.
