Halloween falls on a Monday this year.

And you know what that means, right? Millions of kids will have sugar hangovers come Tuesday morning.

You know what else it means? That many people will start celebrating the occasion, in earnest, on that Friday. But what are you going to do to fill the time?

With that in mind, we’ve come up with a roundup of some of the scary-good concerts taking place in the Bay Area, Oct. 28-31. No, they aren’t Halloween shows, but they’re definitely as much fun as a sack of candy.

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of SecretsThe Pink Floyd co-founder revisits the legendary classic rock act’s early catalog — we’re talking pre-“Dark Side of the Moon” here — for an evening of heady psychedelic music. So, “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” and join Mason and company on Oct. 28 at the Fox Theater in Oakland. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets are $55-$149.50, apeconcerts.com.

The B-52’s — The second most famous band to rise out of Athens, Georgia, brings its farewell tour to San Francisco for three nights, Oct. 28-30. So, hop in your Chrysler (‘it’s as big as whale”) and set sail for the Masonic atop Nob Hill. And — get this — Bay Area band the Tubes are opening. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets start at $63.19, livenation.com. (And, no, we aren’t going to tell you who the most famous Athens band is, since you should already know it’s R.E.M. Oh, wait, guess we just told you.)

The English Beat — Relive the ’80s — only with less neon — as Dave Wakeling leads his band and their eager fans through such upbeat and memorable cuts as “Mirror in the Bathroom,” “Save It for Later” and “I Confess” at the Cornerstone in Berkeley. Showtime is 9 p.m. and tickets are $30-$34, cornerstoneberkeley.com.

Eslabon Armado — The regional Mexican music trio, which consists of Pedro Tovar, Brian Tovar and Damian Pachecho, has won two Latin American Music Awards as well as a number of other trophies. The California-based trio visits the San Jose Civic on Oct. 29. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets are $61-$161, sanjosetheaters.org.

Wake the Dead — Besides having an appropriately scary sounding name for Halloween weekend, Wake the Dead also earns our recommendation for their amazing blend of traditional Celtic music and the songs of the Grateful Dead. Check them out and we think you’ll agree that “St. Stephen” sounds pretty groovy with the addition of a harp. Show time is 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley and tickets are $26-$30, thefreight.org.

Gloria Trevi — The multitalented artist — known as “The Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop” — brings her chart-topping music to the SAP Center in San Jose on Oct. 30. She’s touring in support of her latest album, “Isla Divina.” Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets start at $39, sapcenter.com.

Turnstile, Snail Mail, JPEGMAFIA

Baltimore rock act Turnstile headlines two shows in the Bay Area — on Oct. 30 at the Fox Theater in Oakland and Oct. 31 at the Warfield in San Francisco. Yet, we’re even more excited about the chance of seeing the two cool opening acts — Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA. The former is another Maryland rock act who has released a pair of enjoyable albums, while the latter is a critically acclaimed hip-hop artist from Brooklyn. Showtime is 7 p.m. in both cases. Fox tickets are $39.50-$55 apeconcerts.com and Warfield ducats are $39.95-$75.00 axs.com.
