Young in spirit and light on their feet, members of Samuel Ayer High School’s Class of 1977 rocked the dance floor at their 45th class reunion in Milpitas on Sept.16.

Anecdotes and laughter overpowered the music as old friends met again. Classmates and families from Montana, Colorado, Texas and Arizona flew in to join the party, while Californians drove from Sacramento, Folsom, Stanislaus and Sonoma counties.

Tina Webber Rosario organized the event. Artistic participants shared their talents, creating origami dollar-bill hearts and custom-made wood burning coasters to brighten up the tables, or jumping under the spotlight to sing or play the clarinet. The DJ, from the Class of ’68, packed up his sound table close to midnight.

The next morning, on Sept. 17, the 22nd annual All Class Reunion met at Murphy Park, led by Jacob Abeytia, Class of ’75. Graduates, former students and teachers from Samuel Ayer High School from 1959 to its closing in 1980 shared memories at a picnic, reconnected and made new friends with others who are associated with the Samuel Ayer Trojans.
