The standings have tightened in our all-in-fun Bay Area News Group high school football picks competition.
Mike Lefkow was just 8-8 in Week 4, opening the door for yours truly to pull even with our expert atop the standings.
The kid among us – aka Joseph Dycus – has bounced back nicely after a rough start to his first season in the Bay Area after relocating over the summer from Tennessee.
Dycus led the way in Week 4, finishing 10-6.
He is now four games from catching Lefkow and me, quite a surge given how things stood for The Kid a few weeks ago.
If the ball bounces his way in Week 5, he could tighten the standings even more. Lefkow and I picked the exact same teams in all 15 games this week – no, we did not compare notes – but Dycus went his own way in three of the 15.
He’s got Overfelt beating Santa Teresa, Archbishop Riordan defeating Valley Christian and Sacred Heart Prep toppling Los Gatos.
In this week’s show, we discuss Folsom’s epic win last week over Pittsburg and its return trip to the East Bay on Friday to play De La Salle. We also touch on whether the Sac-Joaquin Section’s top teams are better than teams from the Bay Area, Menlo-Atherton’s visit to Wilcox and Sacred Heart Prep playing host to Los Gatos on Friday afternoon.
