Cupertino is hosting its annual Fall Bike Fest on Saturday, Sept. 24, at a new location: Civic Center Plaza and Torre Avenue, where the street will be shut down to cars for the occasion.
The family-friendly fest runs 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Riders who sign in at the contest booth by 9:45 a.m. are eligible to win a prize for being the oldest or youngest rider, or the person who can carry the most by bike (the record stands at 12 grocery bags). Groups can win for being the largest or the one with the most eye-catching theme.
Early riders can also decorate their bikes, make bike art and poetry, and make a smoothie on the city’s blender bike.
The fest will feature two chaperoned group rides as well as a Bike Rodeo. The Family Fun Ride, organized by the Cupertino Rotary’s Cycle for Change team, will visit Wilson Park for a scavenger hunt before returning to Civic Center Plaza for a snack. The Cupertino Infrastructure Tour with the city’s Transportation Team will highlight some of the bike improvements coming soon to local roads.
The Infrastructure Ride is limited to 25 participants. Register at Eventbrite.com before Thursday, Sept. 22, and fill out the waiver in advance to skip the line at the fest.
