When it comes to eye protection, wrap frames offer the best coverage but come at a cost. Specifically, they can often obscure your peripheral view. For this reason, Gatorz offers its new Marauder frame. As a result, the new frame offers the same great protection of a wrap frame without compromising the ever-important peripherals.

Gatorz Marauder Ballistic Glasses

Constructed of lightweight, durable, aircraft-grade billet 7075-T6 aluminum, the frames include a Cerakote coating for additional wear resistance. As a result, they remain as tough as the lenses themselves, without putting undo weight on the bridge of your nose.

In addition, both the frame and nosepiece are fully adjustable so that you can dial in the fit, especially to you. Once you have the correct fitment, the Marauder frames provide the same protection as wrap frames while maintaining peripheral views. Likewise, the adjustable, thin temples fit easily under helmets and ear protection.

True to the Gatorz brand, the high-impact resistant polycarbonate MILSPEC lenses Meet MIL PRF 32432A, Clause 4.8.4 Ballistic Fragmentation Protection. Likewise, they are compliant with ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 2015 Standard. The lenses are additionally tested to withstand two hits from a .15-caliber projectile, between 700-725 feet per second, without cracking or dislodging.

Within the Marauder line are 11 different overall options, three are ballistic, and the other eight are standard EDC sunglasses. Although even the standard lenses feature impact resistance to protect your eyes under normal impact conditions.

The ballistic offerings are the Clear, Smoke, and Inferno (photochromic). Also available are polarized and non-polarized options. The non-polarized option is the Black Smoke. However, the polarized mirrored options are available in Silver, Green, Blue, Gold, and Sunburst, while also available in a Smoke Lens.

Editor’s Note:

As mentioned, these are available in non-ballistic options as well. So, if you are looking for shooting glasses, please make sure to select either the Clear, Smoke, or Inferno (photochromic). All other lens options are not ballistic and are not intended for shooting sports. So, it is important that you pay close attention with your selection.

However, if you are purchasing these as standard everyday sunglasses, here is a helpful lens color guide:

Gold Mirror – These include a rose base, increasing visual depth of field, highlighting contrast, and enhancing detail. They are ideal for driving or action related activities.

Green Mirror – These include a bronze base that enhances contrast and works well in variable light conditions. They would be a good choice for outdoor activities and general everyday wear.

Blue, Sunburst, and Silver Mirror – These include a grey base that reduces bright light and provides great color perception. They would be ideal for sunny days and general everyday wear.
