Singer Taylor Swift offered an excuse after she was identified as one of the worst carbon emission offenders because of the numerous trips made on her private jet.

Swift was outed in a survey by Yard, a sustainability marketing agency, that found her private jet had taken 170 flights just this year.

The analysis found that the CO2 emissions from the trips on Swift’s plane amounted to 8,293.54 tons, more than a thousand times the carbon emissions from the average individual. Yard found that the jet clocked in about 22,000 minutes in flight, or the equivalent of about 16 days.

The popular singer responded with a short statement from her spokesperson to People magazine.

“Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals,” the statement read. “To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

Some on Twitter found her excuse less than satisfying.

“A stark reminder that amassing that kind of wealth is ALWAYS unethical and exploitative, no matter who does it,” read one popular tweet.

“Listen I also like Taylor Swift’s music but no one should have a private jet. You can have a propeller plane or you can get on a commercial jet. Because frankly no one should have private jet money,” said another critic.

“Taylor swift taking 170 private jet flights this year, where the actual f*** does she need to go that badly to fast track destroying the planet,” asked another detractor.

Other celebrities slammed in the analysis were fighter Floyd Mayweather with 177 flights, baseball star Alex Rodriguez with 106 flights, and rapper Jay-Z.

Swift appeared to have tried to avoid politics in her early career, but she later began to infuse some of her songs with overtly left-wing messages. In 2020, the singer also floated a conspiracy theory about then-President Donald Trump disabling the U.S. Postal Service in order to subvert the political process in the election.
