HAYWARD — A 45-year-old man died Saturday after a vehicle struck him at an intersection, authorities said.

In a statement Sunday, police said officers responded to a report of the collision shortly before 9:30 p.m. at Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the man, whom first responders pronounced dead at the scene. It was the city’s sixth fatal vehicle-related collision of the year, police said.

Police said they were withholding the man’s identity, pending next-of-kin notification through the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau.

The vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, who do not believe alcohol was a collision factor.
