HAYWARD — A man was fatally stabbed over the weekend in the city’s fifth homicide of the year, authorities said.
In a limited statement, police said officers responded shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday to a report of a man down in the 24000 block of Amador Street in the city’s Santa Clara neighborhood, close to the city’s Centennial Park.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male suffering from several stab wounds. Despite efforts from first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said investigators have established his identity, but were withholding it. No additional information about an associated suspect or vehicle was released Sunday evening.
