OAKLEY — A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after colliding with another vehicle on a city street, city officials said.

The crash happened at Laurel Road and Harvest Circle, where the motorcyclist collided with an SUV as the car pulled out in front of the bike, officials said in a statement. According to police, the motorcycle driver was speeding when the collision occurred.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene about 4:10 p.m. Authorities early Friday identified the motorcyclist as 38-year-old Oakley resident Brian Ortiz.

Police investigators have talked to witnesses and are still trying to find people who may have information. They encouraged anyone who can provide any to call Oakley police at 925-625-8855.
