UNION CITY — A vehicle’s driver found unconscious in a parking lot was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

In a limited statement, police said officers responded at 2:40 p.m. to a report of a solo collision in a parking lot in the 900 block of Whipple Road.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle’s driver was not breathing. Paramedics, who also responded, pronounced the driver, identified only as an adult, dead at the scene. Their identity was not available, pending next-of-kin notification from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Officer coroner’s bureau.
