Springfield Armory is no stranger to production pistols that look like they come from a custom design shop. For example, its line of 1911 Emissary pistols feature detailing that most would think was custom work. Adding to the popular 1911 Emissary line, Springfield releases the 4.25, now chambered in 9mm.

The Springfield Armory Emissary line of pistols comes from a specific mission to bridge the gap of defensive and custom pistols. However, the 4.25 adds another level of concealed carry. Building on a forged stainless-steel frame, it features slim line VZ grips machined from G10. The mainspring housing and front strap are machined to match, in what Springfield calls a “grenade pattern texture,” grip. As a result, the Emissary provides firm engagement in adverse conditions.
Riding atop the Springfield Emissary 9mm is a Tri-Top cut slide with forward lightening grooves and rear cocking serrations, set off in two-tone styling. Additionally, the top strap features 40 LPI serrations to diffuse light and reduce glare. At each end of the slide are Springfield Armory’s U-Dot sights with tritium/luminescent front sight. The slide houses the 4.25-inch forged stainless steel bull barrel, reducing muzzle flip and felt recoil.
The skeletonized hammer of the Springfield Emissary 1911 provides ultra-fast lock times and provides a combination of style and performance. Likewise, rounds are sent downrange via a stylish top-end performance solid-body flat-faced trigger. Originally chambered in .45 ACP, the new 4.25 is chambered in 9mm, and ships with 2 high-quality magazines.
