Here’s your chance to spend “An Evening With C.S. Lewis.”

Of course, we’re not talking about the actual C.S. Lewis, the acclaimed author of “The Chronicles of Narnia” who died in 1963. Yet, it might appear like you’re watching the real deal when actor David Payne takes the stage at the Montgomery Theater in San Jose.

Payne plays the esteemed author and theologian in this production, which is set in 1962 as Lewis hosts a group of American writers at his home near Oxford.

Holding court in his living room, the Belfast-born author “recalls the people and events that inspired his thoughts and shaped his life; of his friendship with J.R.R. Tolkien, why he nearly abandoned the Narnia Chronicles, how he came to embrace Christianity and of the American woman who turned his life upside down,” according to a news release.

The play is an intriguing spotlight of Lewis, whose writings and wisdom continue to inspire millions of people nearly 60 years after he died.
