Sure, there are plenty of spots to grab a coffee, doughnut or beer in Oakland.

But not many offer all three.

Otto’s Coffee + Donuts + Beer, the new cafe inside the Kissel Uptown Oakland Hotel, serves an all-day menu, including coffee from Mr. Espresso and housemade doughnuts, inspired by California ingredients. Open since late February, it is the second destination spot recently unveiled inside the newly-renovated Beaux Arts-style hotel at 2455 Broadway.

The first, High 5ive, a rooftop bar and lounge with panoramic terrace views of the arts and entertainment district, opened last month as well. Both are under the direction of executive chef and Bay Area native Nelson Ramirez, who joined Kissel after working as executive sous chef at the W Hotel and Marriott International. In May, look for the highly-anticipated Occitania, a French-inspired fine dining restaurant from executive chef Paul Canales of Duende and Oliveto fame. It will be located on the restaurant’s ground floor.

That’s where you’ll find Otto’s, too, in the large hotel lobby and bar. The breakfast menu features everything from lighter fare, like avocado toast with celery leaf salad and lime salt, to heftier offerings, including croissant loaf French toast sticks and a “morning farro bowl” brimming with seasonal roasted vegetables and a fried egg. Those fresh-made mini cinnamon sugar doughnuts come with a rocky road dipping sauce.

The all-day menu features starters, salads, sandwiches, including a grilled Wagyu bacon burger, and house specialties, like the mushroom eggplant bolognese with fresh ricotta, black walnuts and mint on pappardelle. At the bar, you’ll find 10 classic cocktails, eight draft beers and 11 wines by the glass or bottle.
