A missing trans woman who was the subject of a social media push after going missing in San Francisco has been located alive, police said Tuesday.

The search for the 20-year-old woman, identified only as Isa, started when friends reported her missing in San Francisco early Tuesday. Friends said they feared she had been kidnapped.

According to San Francisco police, Isa was speaking with officers Thursday. They said she was found in Berkeley but gave no further details.

The saga began in the 200 block of Beach Street in San Francisco about 1:55 a.m. Tuesday after officers responded to a missing persons report. Police spokesman Officer Rubert Rueca said officers “canvassed the area for the missing person, evidence and witnesses to no avail.”

Friends said Oakland police found her blood-stained cell phone in their city at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, after police in San Francisco were not able to find her.

Neither Oakland or San Francisco police would confirm the discovery of the phone or any other details.
