Lenten season has arrived, during which Catholics and others avoid eating meat on Friday.
To that end, fast food restaurants have done their annual rollout of seafood items.
Here’s what you can find on menus this year:
Arby’s
The chain known for roast beef has a trio of fried fish sandwiches for the season.
The Crispy Fish sandwich includes a crispy fish fillet, shredded lettuce and tartar sauce on a sesame seed bun.
The Spicy Fish sandwich includes a crispy fish fillet with fiery seasoning, shredded lettuce, tomato and diced jalapeño on a sesame seed bun.
The Kings Hawaiian Fish Deluxe sandwich is made with a crispy fish fillet, sharp cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce on a Kings Hawaiian bun.
Del Taco
Del Taco has brought back its Crispy Jumbo Shrimp.
The Crispy Jumbo Shrimp taco includes the shrimp, cabbage, secret sauce and pico de gallo in a flour tortilla, served with a slice of lime. Cost is $3.29 for one, or $5 for two.
The Crispy Jumbo Shrimp burrito ($5.49) features the shrimp, cilantro-lime rice, secret sauce, cabbage and pico de gallo in a flour tortilla.
The Crispy Jumbo Shrimp Stuffed Quesadilla taco features grated cheddar cheese and queso blanco grilled between two flour tortillas and filled with the shrimp, shredded cabbage, secret sauce and pico de gallo. It sells for $3.59, while a version with guacamole is $4.09. A pair sells for $6.50 and $7.50 for the non-guac and guac versions, respectively.
Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box has brought back its Fish and Deluxe Fish sandwiches.
The Fish sandwich features a crispy wild-caught Alaskan pollock fillet, lettuce and tartar sauce on a buttery bun. The Deluxe Fish sandwich adds a second crispy fish fillet, American cheese and tomatoes.
Cost is $3.99 for the standard and $5.99 for the deluxe sandwich, and either can be turned into a combo for an additional $1.
Popeyes
Popeyes has brought back its Flounder Fish sandwich, in both classic and spicy versions.
The classic sandwich — introduced last year — features a crispy flounder fillet, pickles and tartar sauce on a brioche bun.
The spicy version swaps out the classic crispy flounder fillet for one coated with a spicy batter.
Both sandwiches sell for $4.49 a la carte, and Popeyes Rewards members receive 150 bonus points for ordering the sandwich via the app.
Rubio’s Coastal Grill
Rubio’s Coastal Grill, which already has a number of seafood items on its menu, has brought back wild-caught red Argentinian shrimp in three limited-time entrées.
The Chipotle Honey Argentinian Shrimp Bowl consists of the shrimp, romaine lettuce, citrus rice and black beans, topped with guacamole, a cilantro/onion mix, creamy chipotle sauce, a new chipotle honey sauce, pickled red onions and a slice of lime.
The Chipotle Honey Argentinian Shrimp Burrito features the shrimp, citrus rice, black beans, handmade guacamole, cilantro/onion mix, creamy chipotle sauce, a signature chipotle honey sauce and pickled red onions, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. It comes with tortilla chips.
The Chipotle Honey Argentinian Shrimp Two Taco Plate includes flour tortillas filled with the shrimp on top of melted three cheese blend, romaine lettuce, and a cilantro/onion mix, all topped with creamy chipotle white sauce, a new chipotle honey sauce and pickled red onions. The plate includes black beans, tortilla chips, and a slice of fresh lime.
