Empowering event

Silicon Valley Clean Energy—a Sunnyvale-based nonprofit that distributes power generated by solar panels and wind turbines, among other sources—is hosting its second “Empower Silicon Valley” youth film contest. The competition challenges local high school students to create short films that envision a future where clean energy is the norm. Zonehaven webinar

The next Zonehaven webinar—an event where residents can learn how to use the new online tool local agencies will utilize in the event of evacuation orders—will take place Wednesday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. The webinar is free to all residents. Wildlife, aging lectures

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting two virtual lectures in March. Log on March 7, 1-2 p.m., to learn about the variety of wildlife that makes its home in Blair Ranch Open Space Preserve, located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Guided by two naturalists and an entomologist who will talk about the preserve’s wildflowers, insect life and endangered Western Pond turtles.

On March 10, 11 a.m.-noon, BAOA presents an overview of the process of aging and age-associated diseases, and the latest therapeutic strategies that are in development for these diseases.
