Savannah Marshall’s defense of her WBO middleweight title will have to wait a few more weeks.

BOXXER, which is putting on Marshall’s fight against Femke Hermans, announced Tuesday that Marshall will now fight Hermans on April 2 in Newcastle, England, after being previously scheduled for March 12.

This is the latest move for a fight that was initially supposed to take place in 2021 but was shifted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marshall (11-0, 9 KO), 30, will be making her third defense of the WBO title. Hermans (12-3, 5 KO) last fought July 17, knocking out Lili Jumali in the third round.

Should Marshall win, it would likely set her up for a fight against Claressa Shields for the undisputed middleweight belt. Shields holds the IBF, WBC and WBA belts.

Marshall was the last person to beat Shields in boxing — when they were both amateurs.
