After an ugly first half of football for the 49ers’ offense Sunday against the Texans, surely many Niners fans wanted a word with coach Kyle Shanahan, the team’s play-caller.

One fan got the opportunity, albeit after the 49ers had taken hold of the game in their 23-7 win.

In the fourth quarter, a young fan in a Joe Montana throwback jersey ran up to Shanahan on the 49ers’ sideline, presumably from the stands.

Shanahan, who was focused on the game, was startled.

“That scared the hell out of me. It threw me off so bad, I didn’t know what was going on, and I feel bad,” the coach said postgame. “I wish I’d (fist-bumped) the kid ’cause respect. I don’t know how he got down there. I was just looking at my call sheet and I hear a soft voice down there going ‘Holy cow, Kyle Shanahan.’”

George Kittle said Shanahan wasn’t the fan’s only target of affection.

“All I heard was ‘Deebo (Samuel), I love you,’ and I was like ‘What?’,” Kittle said in the 49ers’ press conference. “And then they’re like ‘Get that kid off the field.’ I said ‘What kid?’ and I look over and there’s a kid talking to Kyle.”

Security workers escorted the young fan off the field shortly after he approached Shanahan, but he brought a surprise to the team.
