
OAKLAND — One man died in a multi-vehicle traffic collision Friday afternoon, authorities said.
A collision involving three vehicles occurred at around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bancroft Avenue and Church Street, according to Heather Mozdean, Battalion Chief for the Oakland Fire Department.
A driver was traveling westbound on Bancroft Avenue at a high speed, ran the red light at Church Street, and collided with another vehicle, according to police.
A man, who was the driver of the other car, died at the scene, according to fire officials. Another driver and two passengers were taken to a hospital with injuries.
The driver who ran the red light was taken to the hospital for injuries and arrested after police found a gun in his car, according to authorities.
The man’s identity wasn’t immediately released.
