MOUNTAIN VIEW – A man was arrested Monday on suspicion of stealing more than $20,000 worth of camera equipment from Mountain View High School, police said.

Detectives arrested the 35-year-old Mountain View resident at his apartment on the 500 block of Central Avenue, the Mountain View Police Department said in a news release.

Police said a search of the man’s apartment turned up several cameras and camera equipment, as well as a firearm with no serial number, otherwise known as a “ghost gun.”

“The camera equipment is in the process of being identified and we are in contact with the school to return items that rightfully belong to them,” police said.

Police said the arrest stemmed from a nearly two-month investigation. In November, detectives began looking into burglaries at the high school where a suspect was able to access a storage area and take the camera equipment.

The man was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of burglary, possession of an undetectable firearm and possession of a controlled substance, police said.
