Two pedestrians died early Sunday morning in separate crashes that were reported within a minute of each other on highways in San Jose and Milpitas.

On person was killed around 1:10 a.m. when they were hit while crossing northbound Highway 101 near Trimble Road in San Jose, according to Eric Anderson, a California Highway Patrol officer.

At about the same time, another person died after appearing to jump in front of a semi near Interstate 880 and Tasman Drive, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.

The names of both people have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The wrecks closed their respective highways for two to three hours early Sunday morning though all lanes have since reopened.
