Campolindo 48, Archbishop Riordan 31

Tied at halftime Saturday night in the final of the Gridley Invitational, Campolindo stepped up its defense on its way to winning the prestigious tournament and setting a school record for consecutive victories.

The team’s 24th win in a row dating to March 2020 was a defensive gem as Campo, the Bay Area News Group’s top-ranked team, held Riordan to 10 points in the second half after the teams were tied 21-21 at halftime.

Clay Naffziger led the Cougars with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Aidan Mahaney, who had 28 points in a semifinal victory Friday over De La Salle, was named the tournament’s MVP, and Cade Bennett made the all-tournament team.

No. 15 Riordan, which beat Salesian and Sacramento to reach the final, fell to 4-3.

King-Njhsanni Wilhite led the Crusaders with 14 points.

Archbishop Mitty 75, Cathedral Catholic-San Diego 52

Aidan Burke had himself a Steph Curry night on the final day of the Father Barry tournament at Jesuit-Carmichael, sinking a school- and tournament-record 12 3-pointers on his way to a 42-point performance in a victory.

It was an impressive bounce-back showing for the second-ranked Monarchs (3-1), who lost to Brophy College Prep of Phoenix 66-47 on Friday.
