OAKLAND (CBS SF) — All lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 580 were blocked Oakland Wednesday evening because of an apparent shooting.
Just before 5:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol issued an about police activity happening near the Seminary Avenue exit, not far from Mills College.

Chopper video revealed officers investigating a white car that appeared to have its tires blown out. Officers were inspecting the vehicle and the roadway, possibly looking for evidence.

According to KPIX 5 reporter Andrea Nakano, a freeway shooting had taken place and a van from the Alameda County coroner was on scene.

As of 8 p.m., Caltrans officials said Westbound 580 at Seminary Avenue remained closed. Traffic was being diverted to northbound Highway 13.

As of about 8:45 p.m., all westbound lanes of the freeway were open.

Authorities still have not released any details regarding the nature of the police activity.
