The Monkees brought their farewell tour to Northern California this week, waving goodbye to their loving fans during stops at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento on Sept. 14 and the San Jose Civic on Sept. 15.

The set lists for the two local gigs appears to have been pretty much the same as on other stops of this tour, with the two remaining Monkees — Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith — and their backing band performing two sets of music that mixed big hits (“Daydream Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “Last Train to Clarksville,” etc.) with lesser-known fan favorites.

Dolenz has said that this is the last time they will tour as the Monkees, but that he doesn’t plan to stop playing shows.

“I’m not going to stop touring solo. I’ll probably still go out — just as Micky Dolenz, lead singer of the Monkees,” he told this newspaper during a recent interview. “This is actually another leg of a tour that we started two years, before the pandemic, called ‘The Monkees Present the Mike and Micky Show.’ At that time, we thought this is probably the last time we would go out under the Monkees banner — especially after Peter passed away.”
